The Bradford Textile Society

That's right, it's that time again; the annual Bradford Textile Society Competition and I can't believe it's been a whole year since I last entered... And a whole two years since I was commended. Time certainly does fly.

If you're not sure what on earth I'm talking about; the annual Bradford textile society competition is open to all forms of textiles,
Print, mixed media, knit and weave. The competition has certain categories you can enter into and you have to design a product which matches the category description you wish to enter.

I've decided to enter my footstools this year as last year the project hadn't evolved enough and was completely different to my final outcome! So I don't think last years entry was very strong. I'm currently working on getting my mood boards together and finished - hopefully before the week is out - so that I can get them posted next week.

Here's a link to their website if you're after more info, closing date is the 15th though so get making :) the luxury is with this all you need is samples you don't need a final product - so less pressure :)

Etsy revamped

I decided recently that my Etsy shop was a little tired and needed something more exciting and different in it to cheer it up. At the weekend I had a big bracelet making session and had the great idea of photographing each one and uploading them onto my shop. I underestimated the time this would take and ended up spending a whole night sat at my laptop uploading photos, it was definitely worth it though, have a look through all the different styles I've come up with here :)

What I'm doing right now...

I found some beautiful yarn recently in a tiny craft shop I discovered called 'babes in the wool' on Newland Avenue. It's amazing what hidden treasures you can find when you look a bit further a field. The shop supplies mainly yarn and has a wide variety, I love the chunky acrylics and the Debbie bliss wool but it was some lovely coloured DK cotton which caught my eye. At £2.49 a ball I couldn't resist and bought a fair few... It took me a while to figure out what I could do with it but finally decided to experiment with jewellery making. At the minute I've been playing about with crochet bracelets. Let me know what you think :)
